Is IMTA a scam? How do I know it’s legitimate? The International Modeling and Talent Association strives to do our best to make the IMTA Conventions a positive experiences for the talented models, actors, singers and dancers that come to compete. Our IMTA Members provide preparation and training for each type of talent to help you prepare for our Convention. At each of our IMTA training centers are hardworking teams that do their absolute best to provide the most they can for each of their aspiring models, actors, and talent. They teach them everything they may need to know as they prepare to come to IMTA.
IMTA is most definitely not a scam. IMTA provides the best possible chance to be seen by major market agents and scouts who are LOOKING for new faces and talent. You know it’s legitimate because of the quality and caliber of agents, managers and casting directors who come to IMTA to find their new stars. Also, by the number and diversity of the models, actors, singers, dancers and songwriters who have IMTA in their background. There is an amazing array of talent and modeling stars who got their start at an IMTA Convention. Please see our blog or any of our social media to see just a sample of some of them.
Going to IMTA does not guarantee you a career in the industry just like going to college doesn’t guarantee you a career in your chosen field of study. But coming to IMTA does give you the best possible chance of getting your career started. Coming to IMTA is part of the journey that will lead you to your place in the industry. You may find that you are an amazing runway model but need to work on your movement for posing for the camera or that you are fantastic at monologues but cold read competitions are something you need to work on. You will have valuable self-discovery and realizations about yourself and your potential all while being seen by the best managers, agents, casting directors and industry VIP’s in the business.
We make it very clear that we cannot guarantee you a career. That is up to you, your potential, the market and the agents or managers needs but we do give you the best possible chance in front of the most professionals.
The agents at IMTA will see you during your IMTA competitions and determine if you are right for their agency. They may have a number of models with your look and though you are perfect for them, they may have to pass at this time. The important thing is you made the contact and your IMTA director will keep in touch with agents who may be interested in you over time as well as those who may be interested in you immediately. The great thing about IMTA is due to the large number of agents, you have a much better chance of being what an agent needs and is wanting! So maybe Agent B has enough models with your look but Agent A needs your look RIGHT NOW! Or maybe designers are wanting a certain look, body type or ethnicity this season and you perfectly fit their needs. Being seen at IMTA gives you the best chance of exposure and making the contacts in the industry that can get you started. We can’t promise that you will be signed but we do promise that you will be seen by the agents and given a chance to make your best impression.
The answer is no, IMTA does not in any way promise or guarantee you a career just by attending the International Modeling and Talent Association convention. IMTA does not promise you will be scouted or picked by an agency. Not receiving a call back from an agency does not mean a contestant should give up their dream of becoming a model or an actor. It may signify a need to refocus on training and preparation.
IMTA and their training centers/agencies provide the opportunity for aspiring models and talent to learn how to showcase their skills in front of agents & scouts for the modeling and talent industries in a professional and safe environment. It is completely up to the agents, managers and casting directors on who gets a callback and is signed for representation. Our IMTA Members develop your talents and give you the opportunity to be successful and learn valuable modeling and talent skills. These skills will be valuable to you in many stages of your life,in or out of the entertainment industry.
Many times people commenting have no direct knowledge of IMTA and are just passing along something they heard. Or you might be reading the opinions of someone who went to an event that sounds like the same concept as IMTA but with a different name. Not all Conventions are alike and IMTA really does give you the opportunity to be seen by hundreds of agents, managers and scouts. Other events have fewer than 100 or even fewer than 50 agents and sometimes people will lump all modeling and talent events together, not realizing that IMTA is different in that we have many more agents and managers at our events. We do extensive interviews with IMTA Contestants during and after our event and hear rave reviews about what a great experience and opportunity IMTA is for our participants.

We hear time and again from our participants that coming to IMTA was the best decision they ever made, it was worth every penny, the exposure, the setting and the professionalism are all top notch. We also hear how well it works. The agents and managers sign fresh talent and then the news starts flowing in about an IMTA Alum who is in a new pilot or feature film, who shot a commercial, who is in a new comedy show, who released a new record or shot an editorial with a famous photographer, or who is in fashion week.
